ICPC UNCOVERS ALLEGED FAKE AGENCY IN SGF OFFICE AS TINUBU ORDERS ARREST, SUSPENDS THREE PERMANENT SECRETARIES

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze following the discovery of an alleged fake government agency operating within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The development was uncovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which identified the purported “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office” as an unauthorised entity.

ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed the development while briefing State House correspondents after meeting with President Tinubu on Friday.

According to Aliyu, office space within the SGF’s premises had allegedly been allocated illegally to the purported agency.

Following the discovery, President Tinubu directed that Nwabueze be arrested to facilitate further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the establishment and operation of the office.

The President also ordered the immediate suspension of three Permanent Secretaries in connection with the incident.

The affected officials are M.S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.

The ICPC is expected to investigate how the alleged fake agency was established, how it gained access to government premises and the circumstances surrounding the allocation of office space to it.

The development comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to strengthen accountability and prevent the unauthorised use of government institutions and facilities.
