LEGAL THREAT: “PROVIDE EVIDENCE OR RETRACT” – EL-RUFAI FAMILY ISSUES 7-DAY ULTIMATUM TO GEN. CHRISTOPHER MUSA

The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), demanding evidence to support an allegation linking the former governor to killings in Southern Kaduna.

The demand followed comments made by Musa during a live television programme on September 3, 2026, where he alleged that El-Rufai had deliberately planned the killing of people in Southern Kaduna during his tenure as governor.

In a statement signed by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai on behalf of the family, the allegation was described as serious and unsubstantiated, with the family insisting that no evidence was presented to support the claim.

The family said Musa was entitled to express his views but maintained that allegations of such magnitude should be backed by credible evidence.

It therefore gave the Defence Minister seven days from the date of the statement to either provide evidence supporting the allegation or publicly withdraw it and issue an apology through the same medium where the claim was made.

The family warned that failure to comply with the demand would lead it to pursue available legal options over what it described as unsubstantiated allegations.

El-Rufai served as Kaduna State governor from 2015 to 2023, a period during which Southern Kaduna recorded several violent attacks.
