The NASFAT Agency for Zakat and Sadaqat (NAZAS) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has inaugurated a new 12-member council to oversee its activities and strengthen the administration of Zakat and Sadaqat.
The inauguration took place at NASFAT Utako in Abuja, with former council members, prominent leaders of the NASFAT organisation and other guests in attendance.

The outgoing council chairman, Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed members. In his address, he reviewed the achievements of the outgoing administration and urged the new council to uphold transparency, fairness and accountability in carrying out its duties.
Ajibola also stressed the importance of following the agency’s operational guidelines, particularly the first-come, first-served principle. He explained its mission and vision while clarifying that NAZAS operates as an independent organisation limited by guarantee.
In a separate presentation, an outgoing council member, Dr Nasir Raji-Mustapha, discussed strategies for improving the mobilisation of Zakat and Sadaqat funds. He highlighted opportunities for expanding the agency’s resources and extending assistance to more eligible beneficiaries.

Similarly, the outgoing Head of the Finance and General Purpose Committee, Alhaji Adebayo Kilani, spoke about the contributions of the NASFAT Zone to NAZAS’s growth and operations. He outlined the zone’s impact and offered insights to help the incoming council sustain existing achievements and improve service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated council, its chairman, Alhaji Abdulganiyu T. Balogun, expressed appreciation to the outgoing administration for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the new team.

Balogun, who had served during the previous council’s tenure, acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessors and pledged to build on their accomplishments.
He assured stakeholders that the new council would introduce beneficial initiatives to improve the agency’s operations, broaden its impact and strengthen its commitment to effective Zakat and Sadaqat administration.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the NASFAT Board of Trustees, Alhaji Abdulateef Wale Olasupo, and his wife. Other dignitaries included the NASFAT Zonal Chairman, the Women Secretary, the Zonal Missioner and other distinguished guests.
Former council members, including Dr Mrs Maryam Sheihu and Barrister S. O. Q. Giwa, were also present.
The inauguration marks a new phase in NAZAS’s leadership in the FCT, with expectations of stronger institutional development, improved resource mobilisation and more effective support for eligible recipients of Zakat and Sadaqah.
