Senator representing Kebbi Central, Muhammad Aliero, has been affirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 general elections following the party’s senatorial primaries.
His affirmation followed the resignation of the former incumbent, Garba Musa Maidoki, from the party, paving the way for his emergence as the consensus choice.
In Kebbi North, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi also secured the APC ticket after being affirmed as the consensus candidate during the primary held in Argungu on Monday.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi South, retired Major-General Jafar Gajere emerged as the party’s consensus candidate for the Zuru senatorial seat.
The three candidates were selected through a consensus arrangement facilitated by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, as the APC conducted its nationwide senatorial primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
At the affirmation event for Kebbi Central held in Birnin Kebbi, delegates approved Aliero’s candidacy through a voice vote, formally endorsing him as the party’s flag bearer.
Party leaders and stakeholders present at the event commended the process and reaffirmed their support for the APC’s preparations for the upcoming elections.
After the exercise, Aliero pledged renewed commitment to representing his constituents, stressing the importance of tackling insecurity and improving development across the state.
