The ruling All Progressives Congress is set to release the list of cleared aspirants for the 2027 elections, with several prominent political figures awaiting confirmation of their eligibility to contest various positions.

Among those affected are more than 30 governors, 88 senators, 242 members of the House of Representatives, and thousands of other aspirants seeking tickets under the APC platform.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who reportedly received a waiver from the party’s screening panel, is being challenged for the presidential ticket by Osifo Stanley.

Several high-profile politicians were screened by the party between May 8 and 12, including Hope Uzodimma, Benjamin Kalu, Gbenga Daniel, and Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
Political tension has reportedly grown around Uzodimma’s senatorial ambition, with concerns that winning a Senate seat while still serving as governor until January 2028 could create constitutional and political complications.

In Ogun State, a fierce rivalry is developing between Governor Dapo Abiodun and former governor Gbenga Daniel over the Ogun East senatorial ticket.
Despite reports that APC stakeholders endorsed Abiodun as a consensus candidate, Daniel rejected the arrangement and insisted he was ready to contest direct primaries, expressing confidence in his grassroots support.
Daniel also alleged that some party interests were attempting to intimidate members and influence the primary process, urging supporters not to be discouraged from participating.

Meanwhile, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yiltwatda warned aspirants and supporters against violence, anti-party activities, or attempts to disrupt the party primaries, stressing that disciplinary measures, including suspension, would be enforced against offenders.
The growing disputes across several states reflect increasing resistance within the party against consensus arrangements, with many aspirants demanding transparent direct primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
