Boko Haram faction executes escapees in Borno, intensifying humanitarian crisis in North-East
A faction of Boko Haram known as Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS) has reportedly killed more than seven captives in Borno State after they attempted to escape from captivity.

The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday evening inside one of the group’s hideouts, where dozens of abducted civilians, including women and children, are still being held under harsh conditions.
Sources said the victims were caught during an escape attempt and were later executed after the effort failed. Their bodies were reportedly displayed within the camp as a warning to other captives.

A disturbing video seen by SaharaReporters, though not publicly released due to its graphic nature, allegedly showed armed terrorists surrounding the victims before the execution.
Reports indicate that more than 400 women and children remain in captivity under the same faction, with survivors facing severe hardship, including starvation and lack of medical care.

Some accounts also suggest that several captives, including children, have died due to illness and neglect, with burials reportedly carried out within the camp.
A local youth group, the Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA), said it has been attempting to intervene and secure the release of some of the captives, but efforts have so far yielded limited success.

The group appealed to Nigerians and international organisations to urgently step in to support rescue efforts and address the worsening humanitarian situation.
The crisis continues to highlight the ongoing insecurity and humanitarian challenges in Nigeria’s North-East region.
