President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence that democracy in Nigeria will endure, despite what he described as ongoing attempts by some political actors to weaken its values.
Speaking on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja while receiving a delegation from Enugu State led by Governor Peter Mbah, the President said his administration remains focused on delivering national progress and improving the welfare of citizens.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the country’s future, stressing that the “Nigerian dream” is achievable through collective effort and sustained commitment.

“We will do everything to ensure that the Nigerian dream is realised. The hope you enunciated is not a pipe dream. It is real and achievable, and we will achieve it together,” he said.
The President maintained that democracy would withstand pressure and criticism, advising those in government and leadership positions not to be distracted by political opposition.
“Democracy will survive despite all intimidation. Ignore the naysayers. Stay focused. When you succeed and they are angry, let them be,” Tinubu stated.
He also dismissed critics of his administration, saying many of them had previously held positions where, according to him, they failed to deliver sustainable solutions in key sectors.

“These are leaders who had privatised electricity, which is not working. They gave us darkness, and we are trying to get through it,” he said.
Tinubu added that his government remains committed to rebuilding the economy and strengthening democratic institutions, noting that development requires continuity and cooperation across all levels of government.
“It’s not a one-man occasion. It’s a collective effort at the national, sub-national, and local government levels. Please do more for the local government,” he added.
The President also commended Governor Peter Mbah for efforts in improving security, healthcare, education, and infrastructure in Enugu State, describing such initiatives as examples of the kind of governance needed across the country.

He further noted that Nigeria continues to play a leading role in Africa’s economic outlook, saying ongoing reforms are gradually positioning the country for stronger growth.
Tinubu thanked the Enugu delegation for their support and encouraged continued collaboration between federal and state governments to drive development and stability.
