The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has dismissed allegations made by a family member of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, insisting that its custody and access procedures remain strictly uniform and not targeted at any individual.

The Commission rejected claims that El-Rufai was denied food or family access, stating that all visitors are subject to a regulated entry window between 9am and 6:30pm for security reasons. It added that multiple family visits were recorded on the day in question, including deliveries of meals at different times.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, ICPC spokesperson John Odey described the allegations circulating in a viral video as false and misleading, insisting that access rules were properly followed and consistently enforced.

He further stated that El-Rufai’s health condition remains stable, adding that the former governor has continued to receive medical attention, family visits, and access to healthcare professionals under supervised arrangements.
According to the Commission, El-Rufai has been allowed visits to his personal medical specialists, including dental and eye care appointments, under official escort and approved procedures. It also noted that internal medical staff remain available to him upon request.

The ICPC maintained that its heightened security measures are standard for high-profile detainees and are necessary to ensure safety and order within its facilities. It also denied claims that it disobeyed any court order, explaining that bail conditions must still be met before release.

The agency emphasized that El-Rufai remains in custody solely due to unmet bail requirements, adding that he has not accused the Commission of mistreatment.
It further reiterated that its operations are strictly judicial and not politically influenced, insisting that all procedures are applied equally regardless of status.
