“Gunfire and Abduction: Terrifying Incident as Kidnappers Target Couple on Abuja Highway”

Amid the escalating insecurity in Abuja, Abdullahi Sabo, a resident of the nation’s capital, has fallen victim to abduction. Sabo, accompanied by his wife, was on his way home when armed assailants intercepted their vehicle at Sabon-Lugbe, Airport Road, in the capital. The unfortunate incident transpired as Sabo was driving his Ash-colored Lexus Jeep with registration number ABC 769 TP.

Reports indicate that after leaving the city center and heading home, the attackers, traveling in an unmarked Golf car, opened fire and deflated the jeep’s tires. Daramola Joseph, a neighbor of the victim, confirmed Sabo’s abduction, recounting the harrowing event during a telephone conversation with our reporter.

“They shot the tires, forcing the vehicle to stop, but before they could get close to the jeep, the man’s wife had escaped. However, they went away with the husband,” he explained. “The man and his wife were returning from the city center and heading towards the access road to Jedo Estate when the gunmen struck.”

When contacted, SP Adeh Josephine, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, stated that she would gather information and provide an update to our reporter. However, no response had been received as of the time of filing this report.

This incident unfolds less than 48 hours after gunmen invaded Army Estate in Kurudu, also within Abuja, abducting several residents. During townhall meetings in Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils, the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, reassured residents of their safety, asserting that adequate security measures had been implemented. Wike further disclosed the arrest of some bandits and their accomplices.
