President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged the economic sacrifices made by Nigerians since his administration began, assuring citizens that the hardships experienced would ultimately lead to long-term national progress.
In a statement marking the third anniversary of his administration, the President said he fully understands the difficulties faced by households across the country while expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future. He added that his government remains committed to building a safer, stronger and more prosperous nation.

Tinubu noted that at the time of taking office, Nigeria was confronted with major economic and structural challenges, including fiscal pressures, fuel subsidy burdens, foreign exchange distortions, rising debt obligations and insecurity across various regions.
He explained that difficult policy decisions were necessary to prevent further economic decline, stating that the removal of long-standing subsidies and reforms in the foreign exchange system were aimed at stabilising the economy and encouraging sustainable growth.

According to him, these reforms have already begun to show positive results, with improvements in public finances, increased resources available to state and local governments, rising investor confidence and growth in the capital market.
The President also highlighted ongoing infrastructure developments, including thousands of kilometres of road projects across the country and continued rail modernisation efforts designed to improve transportation, trade and job creation.

In the energy sector, he noted increased investment inflows, progress on major gas projects and improvements in domestic refining capacity aimed at strengthening energy security and reducing import dependence.
Tinubu further pointed to advancements in agriculture, education, housing and healthcare, stating that millions of Nigerians are benefiting from various government intervention programmes, including student loan schemes, housing delivery projects and primary healthcare upgrades.

On security, he reaffirmed that it remains a top priority of his administration, stressing that security agencies are intensifying operations against criminal networks while efforts continue to improve safety across communities.
He also emphasised the importance of youth empowerment, digital transformation and job creation, describing young Nigerians as central to the country’s future development.
The President concluded by urging unity and patience, stating that while challenges remain, the foundations for national recovery have been laid and continued reforms will ensure broader economic benefits for citizens in the years ahead.
