According to a statement from NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed during a recent visit by senior Air Force officials that surveillance aircraft were deployed immediately after the kidnapping was reported. The aerial operations are providing intelligence to assist ongoing search-and-rescue missions.

The governor explained that data gathered from these flights has been crucial in coordinating security responses and tracking developments linked to the abduction. He also urged residents to remain calm and supportive as security agencies continue efforts to secure the victims’ release.

NAF officials, including representatives of the Chief of Air Staff, reiterated the military’s commitment to working with other security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers. They also commended the state government’s cooperation in strengthening security infrastructure and aerial capabilities.

The incident, which occurred on May 15, involved the abduction of pupils and staff from several schools, with one teacher reportedly killed while in captivity. The attack triggered widespread protests and renewed calls for stronger action against insecurity in the region.
