NEXT-GEN WARFARE: ISRAEL DEPLOYS ‘IRON BEAM’ LASER SYSTEM CAPABLE OF DESTROYING IRANIAN DRONES

Tel Aviv has reportedly deployed elements of its advanced missile defence technology to the United Arab Emirates, including a version of its Iron Beam laser system designed to intercept and neutralise short-range rockets and drones.

According to reports, the system—developed by Israeli defense industry—was previously tested in combat scenarios against Hezbollah projectiles launched from Lebanon and is now being adapted for use in Gulf defence operations.

The deployment reportedly comes alongside the earlier provision of Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system, as well as additional surveillance technology aimed at detecting incoming drone threats at long range.

The cooperation marks one of the most significant defence partnerships between Israel and the UAE since the establishment of diplomatic ties under the 2020 Abraham Accords, brokered during the administration of former US President Donald Trump.

Security sources cited in reports indicated that Israel also sent military personnel to assist with the integration of the systems, describing the scale of deployment as substantial rather than symbolic.

The UAE reportedly faced heavy aerial pressure during recent regional tensions, with large numbers of missiles and drones launched toward its territory. In response, the country activated multiple layers of air defence, including Israeli-supplied systems.

Some of the equipment deployed was described as early-stage or prototype technology that had not yet been fully integrated into Israel’s domestic defence network, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Alongside the weapons systems, intelligence sharing between both countries reportedly played a key role in tracking potential missile launches and improving interception success rates.

The partnership has deepened significantly since diplomatic normalisation, with earlier defence cooperation already including systems such as Barak and Spyder air defence platforms.

Analysts note that the recent conflict marked the most serious test of Israel-UAE security cooperation to date, accelerating the transfer of advanced military technology to the Gulf state.

However, the growing military collaboration has also made the UAE a more prominent regional target amid escalating tensions involving Iran and its allies.
