Take-It-Back Movement Protests in Ibadan Over Kidnapped Pupils and Teachers
Members of the Take-It-Back Movement on Monday took to the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, to protest the continued abduction of pupils and teachers kidnapped by terrorists in Oriire Local Government Area.
The protesters gathered at Mokola Roundabout, carrying placards with various inscriptions demanding urgent action from the government and security agencies to tackle the worsening insecurity in the state.
Some of the messages displayed on the placards read, “Security for all, not for a few,” “Government must end kidnapping in Oyo State,” “Protect farmers, traders and students,” and “Peace, security and justice.”
Speaking during the demonstration, one of the protesters expressed frustration over the persistent insecurity affecting many parts of the country.
“Let them know that the people of Nigeria are not at peace. Let them know that the people of Oyo State are not smiling. Let them know that Nigerians are tired of insecurity,” the protester said.

The protest comes amid growing public outrage over the continued captivity of dozens of pupils and teachers who were abducted more than two weeks ago from schools in the Ahoro-Esiele community of Oriire Local Government Area.
The demonstrators called on both the state and federal governments to intensify efforts toward securing the release of the victims and finding lasting solutions to the increasing cases of kidnapping and violent attacks across Oyo State.
The protest also followed recent visits by government officials to the affected community. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, visited Ahoro-Esiele on Saturday, where he met with families of the victims and assured them that his administration was committed to securing the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.
“I understand the pain and anxiety that many of you are experiencing at this moment. As your government, we share your concerns, and we are fully committed to securing the safe return of our children and their teachers,” the governor told residents during the visit.
On Sunday, a Federal Government delegation led by Femi Gbajabiamila also visited the community to assess the situation and meet with affected families and local leaders.
Residents continue to hope that ongoing rescue efforts by security agencies will lead to the safe release of the victims as pressure mounts on authorities to address the growing security challenges in the state.
