The Muslim Community of Oyo State has strongly condemned efforts by kidnappers to associate their criminal activities with Sharia law, declaring that such individuals do not represent Islam or the Muslim faith.

In a statement released by the leadership of the community, the group described the alleged Sharia-related demands made by abductors of schoolchildren in Oyo State as a gross misrepresentation of Islamic teachings. It stressed that Islam strictly forbids kidnapping, terrorism, violence and the exploitation of innocent people for personal gain.
According to the community, genuine Islamic principles are rooted in justice, peace, compassion and the protection of human life, values that stand in direct opposition to criminal acts and insecurity.

The group maintained that no individual or criminal network can use religion as a justification for unlawful activities, emphasizing that terrorists and kidnappers cannot claim to speak on behalf of Muslims.
To support its position, the community cited Islamic teachings that uphold the sanctity of life and condemn acts that endanger innocent people.
The Muslim Community also expressed support for security agencies working to secure the release of the abducted children and called on authorities to intensify efforts to arrest those responsible for the crime.

Residents across the state were encouraged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities that could help prevent further incidents.
In addition, the community announced a special prayer session for the safe return of the abducted schoolchildren from Oriire Local Government Area. The prayer gathering will be led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and Grand Chief Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Abubakar Agbotomokekere.
The event is scheduled to hold at the Yidi Agodi Praying Ground in Ibadan, where Muslims from across the state are expected to unite in prayers for the victims and their families.

The group also acknowledged the efforts of the Oyo State Government, the Federal Government and security personnel involved in ongoing rescue operations.
Expressing concern over the plight of the abducted children, including very young victims, the community prayed for their safe return and for the protection and success of security operatives working to secure their freedom.
