#Popular Nollywood Actor, Mr Ibu Is Dead

Mr Ibu, a Nollywood veteran has died. The actor whose real name is John Okafor was 62.

According to reports from sources close to him, the veteran comedian passed away at Evercare Hospital.

Many fans have shared condolences on X, reminiscing about movies the late actor has featured.

Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, is dead.

He was said to have died on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

In October 2023, the veteran actor was reported ill and required financial assistance.

But in November 2023, Okafor’s family confirmed that one of his legs had been amputated to keep him alive.

The amputation became necessary because of an infection of the arteries at the ankle that was not detected early enough, his former manager Emeka Chochoo told PUNCH Online in November 2023 in an exclusive chat.

It was reported that he passed away in a hospital.

Meanwhile, celebrities and colleagues of the Nollywood veteran have mourned Mr. Ibu in various social media posts.

Mercy Johnson Okojie wrote, ” It is well… Rest well sir…”

Ruth Kadiri wrote, “Sleep well, Papa.”

The National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, also confirmed the death in an Instagram post,

He wrote, “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with a deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.

“May his soul rest in peace.”

This comes 24 hours after another actor, Quadri Oyebamiji, aka Sisi Quadri, passed away in Osun State.
