Russia is reportedly facing a significant fuel supply challenge after losing about 40% of its oil refining capacity, forcing the country to begin importing gasoline from India.
The disruption is largely attributed to repeated Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries, with reports indicating that restoring the damaged facilities could take several months.
As fuel shortages continue to grow, major Russian energy companies, including Rosneft and Gazprom Neft, have turned to Indian refineries for emergency gasoline supplies. At least one shipment is already en route, while additional deliveries have reportedly been requested.
The development marks a notable shift in trade, as Russia, which exports crude oil to India, is now purchasing refined gasoline produced from its own crude by Indian refineries at a higher cost.
The situation highlights the growing pressure on Russia’s domestic fuel supply as the conflict continues to affect its energy infrastructure.
