The Federal Government has opened applications for its newly introduced Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) programme, giving Nigerians the opportunity to acquire laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other digital devices through affordable credit arrangements.
The initiative, implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, was officially launched in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, alongside CREDICORP Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba.
The programme is designed to make digital devices more accessible by allowing eligible applicants to pay in installments instead of making full upfront payments. It begins with the distribution of locally assembled laptops as part of efforts to support local manufacturing.
How to apply
Interested applicants can visit the official C.L.I.C.K.D. application portal and select the “I’m Interested” option to begin the registration process.
Applicants will be required to provide details including their state of residence, employment status, monthly income (optional), participation in any recognised digital talent programme, the type of device they require, and the purpose for requesting the device.
The application also requests information on how applicants learned about the programme before requiring them to confirm that the information provided is accurate, consent to being contacted, and permit CREDICORP and its partners to assess their eligibility.
According to CREDICORP, the rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries received digital devices during the launch, while additional qualified participants across other states will receive theirs in phases.
Although the initial pilot targets 1,000 beneficiaries under the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, the application form also includes participants from other digital training platforms such as Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, and Genesys Tech Hub, indicating that these groups may also be considered for future phases.
CREDICORP has, however, not yet announced details regarding the interest rates, repayment period, or any required down payment for beneficiaries of the scheme.
The corporation stated that the current pilot phase remains focused on fellows of the 3MTT programme, with plans to expand access as the initiative progresses.
