The directive was announced on Tuesday by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed that the investigation must be completed and a detailed report submitted to the President within 30 days.

According to the presidency, the order followed the discovery that the PFIPC is a fictitious organisation that was never created or recognised by the Federal Government. It stated that the body has no legal backing, presidential approval, executive authorisation or any lawful basis for its existence.

The statement further alleged that an individual identified as Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew falsely presented himself as the Director-General of the organisation and claimed to be a presidential appointee despite having no official appointment from the Federal Government.

The presidency said the investigation is expected to uncover the activities of the group and determine the extent of any wrongdoing associated with its operations.
