The incident, which occurred Monday evening, took place along the border between Koro-Ekiti and Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. The victims, said to be members of the Kemberi community, were ambushed while several others fled into nearby bushes to escape the violence.

Earlier reports of heavy gunfire between Koro and Eruku had raised fears among residents of an impending attack. Locals have expressed growing concern over deteriorating security, noting that Ogbe Forest has become a suspected hideout for bandits who launch assaults on vulnerable settlements before retreating into dense terrain.

The latest killings add to ongoing insecurity in parts of Kwara South and adjoining Kogi communities, where residents have repeatedly urged state and federal authorities to strengthen security presence.

As of filing, neither Kwara nor Kogi state security agencies had released an official statement regarding the attack.
