Kano Central APC Crisis: Governor Yusuf Moves To Reconcile Aggrieved Aspirants After Controversial Consensus Arrangement
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is reportedly set to begin reconciliation efforts with aggrieved APC stakeholders and aspirants following the controversial Kano Central Senatorial consensus arrangement which sparked widespread dissatisfaction among party loyalists in the constituency.

Political sources familiar with developments within the Kano APC disclosed that the Governor is expected to visit Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango, widely regarded as one of the leading contenders for the Kano Central Senatorial ticket, in a move aimed at restoring unity and calming growing tensions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dr. Zango had purchased and duly submitted his nomination forms and was reportedly preparing for direct primaries before the controversial consensus arrangement emerged, leading to protests and strong reactions from sections of party members who insisted that democratic primaries should have been conducted in line with party guidelines and democratic principles.

Observers within the APC believe the decision to avoid direct primaries in Kano Central created avoidable resentment among grassroots supporters who waited for several hours expecting an electoral process that never eventually held.
Many party members have argued that reconciliation efforts are necessary to prevent deep divisions within the Kano APC at a time opposition forces are intensifying political mobilisation across the state ahead of 2027.
Political analysts say the Governor’s reported move to personally engage Dr. Zango and other stakeholders may help reduce tensions if handled sincerely, fairly and respectfully.

However, party loyalists insist that genuine reconciliation must go beyond symbolic meetings and should involve satisfactory appreciation and political accommodation for aspirants and supporters affected by the controversial arrangement.
“The move towards reconciliation is commendable and necessary for party unity, but the issues surrounding the Kano Central primaries must be resolved transparently and fairly to avoid lasting bitterness within the APC,” a senior party stakeholder told Headlinenews.news.

Some APC members have also called on the national leadership and party hierarchy to support reconciliation efforts and address what many described as the injustice allegedly meted out to aspirants who had legitimately prepared for competitive primaries before the consensus arrangement was introduced.
Political observers warn that unresolved grievances within Kano APC could weaken party cohesion in one of Nigeria’s most politically strategic states as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually intensify.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is reportedly making moves to reconcile aggrieved APC aspirants and stakeholders following the controversial Kano Central Senatorial consensus arrangement which denied the conduct of direct primaries.
Sources disclosed that the Governor may visit Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango, one of the leading contenders who purchased and submitted nomination forms before the process was controversially halted.
Party members described the reconciliation move as commendable but insisted the process must be sincere, fair and satisfactory to all affected aspirants and stakeholders.

They also urged the APC hierarchy to support efforts aimed at addressing the perceived injustice and restoring unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, A.A. Zaura, a Senatorial aspirant, and Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango, who fully participated in the Senatorial process through the purchase and submission of forms, screening exercises and mobilisation of loyal APC members for the planned direct primaries on Monday, May 18, in line with the Electoral timetable, are yet to be fully reconciled with the party leadership.

Despite the controversy surrounding the primaries, both aspirants reportedly directed their supporters to actively participate in the APC Presidential primaries and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s success as loyal party members committed to the progress of the APC.
Sources further revealed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf recently visited A.A. Zaura at his residence in this video to express appreciation for the support mobilised towards the successful Presidential primaries.
However, Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango is yet to be officially reconciled with the Governor and party leadership till date.
