President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the successful rescue of the students and teachers who were abducted from the Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, commending security agencies for their efforts in securing the victims’ freedom.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the military, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force for carrying out a coordinated operation that led to the safe rescue of the victims after 56 days in captivity.

Tinubu described the operation as a major achievement, noting that security forces not only rescued the abductees without collateral damage but also arrested eight suspected kidnappers while neutralising several others during the mission.
He said the successful operation brought an end to the prolonged ordeal of the victims and provided relief to their families and Nigerians who had followed the case with concern.
The President also acknowledged the emotional pain and hardship experienced by the abducted students, their teachers and their loved ones throughout the period of captivity.

He pledged that his administration would ensure justice for the rescued victims and the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed by the abductors during the incident.

Tinubu further commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his collaboration with the Federal Government throughout the rescue efforts and urged the state government to strengthen security measures around schools to prevent similar incidents.

In addition, the President directed emergency response agencies to work closely with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued students and teachers with the necessary medical attention, relief assistance and other forms of support.
