The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed May 15 and 16, 2026, for its presidential primary as part of its roadmap toward the 2027 general elections.
In a timetable released by the party, key activities leading up to the primaries were outlined, including the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, appeals, and elections for various political offices.

According to the schedule, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will take place from April 25 to May 2, while completed forms must be submitted by May 4. Screening of aspirants is set for May 6 to 8, with results to be announced on May 11. Appeals arising from the screening process will be handled between May 12 and 13.
The party also mapped out dates for other primaries: House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and governorship elections on May 23.

For aspirants, the cost of the presidential form has been fixed at ₦100 million, covering ₦30 million for expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination. Governorship hopefuls are to pay ₦50 million, while fees for other positions differ.
The APC added that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will only pay for the expression of interest form and half of the nomination fee for their chosen positions.

The party stated that the timetable aligns with constitutional provisions and electoral regulations, reaffirming its intention to conduct transparent and credible primaries.

As of now, no aspirant has officially declared for the presidential race, although several party figures have shown support for President Bola Tinubu’s possible re-election bid. The president has yet to formally announce his intention but recently dismissed claims suggesting he is concerned about opposition challenges.
