The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged party leaders and members in Lagos State to unite, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and work towards securing victory for President Bola Tinubu, governorship candidate Obafemi Hamzat and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda made the call on Monday, October 19, during a one-day retreat for leaders and senior members of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos. The retreat focused on party unity, reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and preparations for the forthcoming elections. He warned party members against prioritising personal interests over the collective objectives of the APC.

The APC national chairman described Lagos as strategically important because of its large voting population and commercial significance. He acknowledged that the party lost the state in the 2023 presidential election and said members must work together to reverse that outcome in 2027. He also urged party leaders to strengthen their relationships with grassroots supporters and communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration more effectively.

Addressing internal disagreements, Yilwatda said political differences and individual ambitions should not be allowed to weaken the party. He called for dialogue and reconciliation with aggrieved members, urging leaders to identify those who felt excluded and create opportunities for them to participate. He also insisted that members should support candidates who emerge through the party’s established processes, even when those candidates are not their personal preferences.

Yilwatda further stressed the importance of preparing adequately for election day, particularly by ensuring that polling unit agents are identified and their details submitted within the required deadlines. He urged Lagos APC leaders to strengthen their structures, improve communication about government projects and mobilise voters across the state. He maintained that unity, effective organisation and collective responsibility would be essential to the party’s efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
