Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said a hydration break proved to be the turning point in his side’s heartbreaking 2026 FIFA World Cup exit to Norway.

Reflecting on the Round of 16 defeat, Ancelotti admitted Brazil were in control before the scheduled break but believes the stoppage disrupted his team’s rhythm. He also acknowledged that tactical changes made during the interval did not produce the desired effect and allowed Norway to regain momentum before scoring the decisive goal.

Despite the disappointment, the Italian manager accepted responsibility for the result, saying he may have misjudged the situation. He insisted the painful defeat should serve as motivation for Brazil as they begin rebuilding for future tournaments.

The loss marks Brazil’s earliest World Cup elimination since 1990 and extends the Seleção’s wait for a sixth world title. Ancelotti, however, has reaffirmed his commitment to remaining in charge of the national team and leading a new generation of Brazilian talent into the next cycle.
