A House of Representatives aspirant from Kaduna State, Abin Al’ajabin Zazzau, has spoken about the insults, humiliation and discrimination he says he has endured because of politics and his physical appearance.
Zazzau, who is contesting for the Abuja Sabon Gari/Fada Federal Constituency seat, made the remarks during an interview conducted in Hausa with RFI.
The 30-year-old politician said he has faced years of ridicule and attacks directed at both him and his family, adding that many people constantly mock the way he was created by Allah.
“For political reasons, my dignity has been violated. I have been humiliated and looked down on because of the way Allah created me,” he said.

He explained that the criticism and insults have followed him throughout his political journey.
“There is almost nothing people have not said against me. I have been insulted, disgraced and humiliated, and even my parents have not been spared. Anytime I try to make progress politically, some people attack my dignity instead of focusing on the issues,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Zazzau said he remains committed to his ambition because of his desire to improve the lives of young people in Sabon Gari and tackle social problems affecting the constituency.
According to him, many youths in the area are trapped in gangs and negative activities because they lack opportunities and proper support.
“I decided to contest because I want to help young people leave these groups and gangs they are involved in. Sabon Gari needs serious reform and direction,” he said.
He stressed that empowerment and job opportunities are more important than temporary handouts.

“Our people are not begging for food every day. What they need is empowerment and opportunities to stand on their own. Instead of always giving people fish, teach them how to fish,” he said.
Zazzau also criticised what he described as years of poor representation in the constituency, saying an economically important area like Sabon Gari deserves more development and attention.
He noted that the constituency hosts major institutions, industries and commercial activities, including textile companies, aviation-related operations and the Ahmadu Bello University.
“Sabon Gari is an important commercial and industrial area, not only in Kaduna State but in Nigeria. Yet many communities there still lack development and quality representation,” he said.
The aspirant revealed that he also attempted to contest for the same House of Representatives seat during the 2023 elections but later stepped down after appeals from political stakeholders.
