#NDLEA Arrests Two, Intercepts Drugs Hidden in Duvet at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a shipment of cannabis, commonly known as “Loud,” concealed in a duvet and bound for the United Kingdom.

Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, revealed that the illicit cargo was discovered on January 21 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos. Two suspects, Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun, were arrested in connection with the consignment.

“Six parcels of the psychoactive substance, weighing 3.50 kilograms, were hidden inside the duvet,” Babafemi stated. He added that Balogun, the main agent behind the operation, confessed to being paid ₦700,000 to facilitate the shipment. Balogun admitted using part of the funds for export handling charges while spending the rest on securing an apartment.

In another operation in Lagos, NDLEA operatives arrested two suspects, Joseph Oluwasegun Adewale and Biodun Adelakun, during a raid in Ikorodu. Seized items included seven liters of “Skuchies,” a psychoactive mixture of black currant, cannabis, and opioids, along with firearms such as locally made rifles, pistols, cartridges, and an axe.

Additionally, a raid on January 19 at the notorious Akala area of Mushin, Lagos, led to the seizure of 47kg of skunk (a strain of cannabis) and 25.46kg of nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas.”

In Ekiti State, operatives arrested a 26-year-old suspect, Adepoju Taiwo, on January 23 with 1.950kg of Canadian Loud on Iworoko Road, Ado-Ekiti. Similarly, on January 20, another suspect, Auwal Sani, was apprehended in Kwara State’s Moro Local Government Area with 50,000 pills of tramadol 225mg, weighing 36.56kg.

These coordinated operations underscore NDLEA’s commitment to combating drug trafficking across Nigeria.
