The Ogun State Government has criticized Senator Gbenga Daniel over his recent comments against Governor Dapo Abiodun, describing his remarks as the actions of a frustrated politician and accusing him of turning against the same APC consensus arrangement that helped him secure his senatorial ticket in 2023.

According to the state government, Daniel benefited from the party’s internal consensus process, which was supported by Governor Abiodun and other stakeholders during the build-up to the 2023 elections. It claimed it is now ironic that he is condemning the same structure that facilitated his political emergence.
Daniel, during a midterm assessment and empowerment tour in Ijebu Ode, had accused the Abiodun administration of neglecting Ijebuland, obstructing federal projects linked to him, and contributing to the loss of major investments, including the proposed Dangote refinery project and a naval base project in Abigi.

In response, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy dismissed the claims, describing them as politically motivated and an attempt by Daniel to remain relevant amid declining political influence.
The government maintained that Governor Abiodun had previously supported a peaceful consensus arrangement in 2023 that led to Daniel stepping down other aspirants to become the APC senatorial candidate.
It also argued that ongoing infrastructure development across Ogun State, especially in Ijebu Ode, reflects the administration’s commitment to governance, citing multiple completed road projects and ongoing reforms.

On economic comparisons raised by Daniel, the government insisted such arguments ignored current economic realities, including currency depreciation and inflation, which differ significantly from conditions during his tenure as governor.
The statement also dismissed allegations that the Abiodun administration frustrated industrial investments, insisting that major investors, including the Dangote Group, continue to expand operations in the state under a supportive business environment.
Additionally, the government accused Daniel of engaging in anti-party activities during the 2023 elections and of working against party interests in subsequent political processes.

It further claimed that his recent actions reflect dissatisfaction with internal party decisions and a disregard for APC structures and collective leadership processes.

Despite the political disagreements, the government reaffirmed that the Abiodun administration remains focused on delivering development projects and governance across Ogun State.
