The Ogun State Police Command has debunked a viral video circulating online that allegedly shows armed bandits operating in a forest in the state, describing it as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, said the footage did not originate from Ogun State or anywhere in Nigeria.
According to the police, investigations revealed that the video was actually recorded in Kenya during an operation involving cattle rustlers and was captured using a drone by a security unit there. The command also noted that the footage is not recent, explaining that it first appeared online in 2022 before being reshared with a false narrative.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the spread of the video, warning that such misinformation could create unnecessary panic and weaken public trust in security agencies.
He reassured residents that there is no evidence of any such criminal activity in Ogun State, stressing that the police remain active and committed to maintaining security across the state.
The command urged the public to ignore the video and avoid sharing unverified information, advising residents to rely only on official sources for updates and to report any suspicious activity through the appropriate channels.
