Charles Okocha Defeats Portable in Dramatic Celebrity Boxing Rematch
Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has defeated street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, in a dramatic celebrity boxing rematch that ended in controversy after just one round in Lagos.
The highly anticipated fight, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
The bout quickly turned chaotic as both entertainers exchanged punches before Portable grabbed Okocha and took him down to the canvas.
The referee immediately stepped in to separate the fighters, while security personnel and officials entered the ring as tensions rose.
After the first round ended, Portable walked out of the ring, leaving the arena as some fans booed his exit. He later returned and argued that the takedown meant he had won the fight.
However, officials ruled that the singer had abandoned the contest and awarded victory to Okocha.
“We do have a decision. And due to the fact that Portable abandoned the ring after the first round, we have a winner, Mr Algorithm, Charles,” the host announced.
The decision meant there was no traditional scoring process, as the match ended before the scheduled rounds could continue.
Portable was later seen in an argument with members of his team, insisting that Okocha had not fought fairly.
A Rivalry That Started Online
The rematch was the second time the two entertainers had settled their differences inside the boxing ring after their public fallout in 2023.
The dispute began after Portable accused Okocha of owing him millions of naira from an event, an allegation the actor denied. Okocha later said he had given Portable ₦5 million despite there being no formal agreement between them.
The disagreement escalated on social media before the pair agreed to settle the matter through a celebrity boxing match.
Their first encounter, held at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, in December 2023, lasted four rounds and ended with Portable being declared the winner.
Okocha later challenged the result, claiming the fight was unfair and raising concerns about an incident involving Portable’s gloves during the contest. He eventually activated the rematch clause, leading to Friday’s showdown.
Intense Build-Up Before Rematch
The build-up to the fight was filled with heated exchanges, with both men making bold predictions during interviews and face-offs.
Okocha had predicted that Portable would not last beyond two rounds, while Portable remained confident of securing another victory.
The actor trained with heavyweight boxer Moses Itauma, while Portable prepared under boxer Taiwo “Esehpo” Agbaje.
The rematch came after Portable suffered another setback in the celebrity boxing scene. In May 2026, comedian and content creator Carter Efe defeated him by unanimous decision at Chaos in the Ring 4, ending his unbeaten run in the series.
Despite that loss, Portable had remained confident ahead of the Okocha rematch, describing himself as the “face of boxing in Nigeria.”
Okocha Gets His Revenge
Friday’s result gave Charles Okocha the revenge he had been seeking since their controversial first meeting and levelled the rivalry between both entertainers at one victory each.
For Portable, the defeat marked his second straight loss in the celebrity boxing circuit, while Okocha finally secured the bragging rights after years of public exchanges between the two stars.
