The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Lagos.

According to him, the incident was reported on May 7, 2026, after Alebiosu discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition inside a package delivered to him.
He explained that the parcel was first received by the banker’s security guard before it was later passed on to him. The discovery prompted an immediate report to the police, leading to the commencement of a full-scale investigation.
The police commissioner noted that detectives are treating the case with seriousness and are currently working to establish how the ammunition got into the package.

He added that the parcel was reportedly delivered to the Ikoyi residence of the bank executive via a dispatch rider. It was marked as confidential, bearing only the recipient’s name and address, with no information identifying the sender.
Authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made so far, but several investigative leads are being pursued. Forensic analysis and intelligence-led efforts are also ongoing to trace the source of the package and those involved in its delivery.
The command assured the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, noting that the case raises broader concerns about the security of high-profile individuals and corporate executives in the country.
