TINUBU’S ECONOMIC REFORMS LAYING FOUNDATION FOR LONG-TERM STABILITY

A former member of the House of Representatives for Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency, Oghene Egoh, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visible progress in infrastructure development and ongoing economic reforms.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos on Sunday, Egoh said the administration has shown clear commitment to national development through major road projects and policy decisions aimed at long-term growth.

He highlighted several key infrastructure projects, saying they reflect a deliberate effort to improve connectivity and boost economic activity across the country.

Among them, he pointed to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing it as a major project that would transform coastal transportation, support tourism, and strengthen trade along Nigeria’s southern corridor. He also noted the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, saying it would improve movement between the North and South and enhance agricultural distribution.

Egoh further mentioned progress on the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road, as well as ongoing work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which he described as one of the country’s most important economic routes.

He also referenced developments on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the Bodo-Bonny Road, noting that both projects are expected to ease transportation of goods and improve regional connectivity.

According to him, the use of reinforced concrete pavement on major highways shows a shift toward more durable and cost-effective infrastructure planning.

On the economy, Egoh said the government’s reforms—including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange policy changes, and new infrastructure funding approaches—are difficult but necessary steps toward stability.

He acknowledged that the reforms have brought short-term challenges but insisted they are laying the foundation for stronger economic performance in the future.

Egoh urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration, expressing confidence that the benefits of the ongoing projects and reforms will become more visible over time.
