The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has projected that the ruling party could secure over 10 million votes in the 2027 presidential election, pointing to its growing membership strength and federal government intervention programmes.

Yilwatda made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s emergence as the APC presidential candidate after securing 10.9 million votes in the party’s primary election.
He argued that the APC’s expanding support base, driven by beneficiaries of government schemes, could translate into significant electoral gains in the general election.

According to him, students benefiting from the student loan programme, estimated at about 1.5 million recipients, as well as their families, may likely support the party. He also noted that millions enrolled in the national health insurance scheme, along with citizens engaged in government-funded infrastructure projects, could further boost the party’s vote count.

Yilwatda added that major ongoing projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Badagry road expansion, and railway developments linking Kano were directly or indirectly impacting millions of Nigerians.

He maintained that the APC remains the most organised political party in the country, claiming it currently has about 12.7 million registered members and a strong internal conflict resolution structure.
He also dismissed claims of interference in opposition party crises and insisted that President Tinubu is not imposing candidates within the party.
