The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has entered into a strategic partnership with Afrovision Technologies Limited (Doballi), a Dubai-based AI-driven recruitment platform, to enhance job placement opportunities for Nigerian tech professionals on the global stage.
Addressing Employment Challenges
Despite Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital ecosystem, many skilled professionals struggle to secure international job placements. This collaboration aims to bridge that gap by creating structured pathways for Nigerian talent to access remote employment opportunities worldwide.
Key Aspects of the Partnership
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines the roles of both organizations:
- NITDA will provide a pipeline of trained and employable Nigerian tech professionals, ensuring their readiness for global job markets.
- Doballi will connect these professionals with international enterprises seeking high-caliber African talent while waiving the $150 onboarding assessment fee for Nigerian applicants.
- Additionally, Doballi will offer an information pack detailing industry certification requirements and facilitate cross-cultural training.
- A specialized dashboard will be created for NITDA to monitor talent progress, employer feedback, and foreign currency transactions within Nigeria’s banking system.
Reactions from Stakeholders
NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, described the partnership as a significant step toward sustainable digital job creation, emphasizing that it will provide valuable insights for policymakers in the social and economic sectors.
Mrs. Nneoma Ijei, Doballi’s Country Director, expressed confidence in the initiative, stating that it will enhance remote employment opportunities and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth. “As global demand for tech talent rises, Nigeria, with its youthful and innovative workforce, is well-positioned to lead the way in shaping the future of technology and innovation,” she said.
Other NITDA Initiatives
The Nigerian government has implemented several programs to enhance digital skills and employment opportunities. Through NITDA, initiatives such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program aim to train three million Nigerians in digital and technical skills by 2027.
Additionally, NITDA has partnered with the National Universities Commission to integrate emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cybersecurity—into university curricula. The government has also approved the National Skills Framework, ensuring Nigerian graduates acquire practical, globally relevant skills aligned with industry needs.
Other government-backed programs, including the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the National Social Investment Program (NSIP), provide technical training and entrepreneurial support to equip Nigerians with job-ready expertise.
This partnership with Doballi is another step toward positioning Nigeria as a hub for top-tier tech talent in the global job market.
