A four-member delegation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by National Commissioner Prof. Rhoda Gumus, arrived in Anambra State on Thursday to assess preparations for the November 8, 2025, governorship election. The team, including Commissioners Sam Olumekun, Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu, and Dr. Baba Bila, was received by Anambra’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, in Awka.

Olumekun outlined INEC’s comprehensive plan, covering logistics, technology, training, stakeholder engagement, and security, stating that all non-sensitive materials are in place, with sensitive materials to follow under strict security. The visit involves stakeholder meetings, mock accreditation, and readiness reviews to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.

The delegation inspected non-sensitive material batching and Permanent Voter Card distribution in Dunukofia and Oyi Local Government Areas, expressing satisfaction with progress and urging voter cooperation. Upcoming activities include meetings with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, transport unions, and a mock accreditation exercise.

Agwu assured timely delivery of materials, including to riverine areas using provided funds and boats, with materials departing the CBN on November 6. Voting is set for 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with those in line by closing time allowed to vote.
