The chairmen of Lagos Island Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in partnership with Lagos State Health District IV, have pledged to upgrade primary healthcare centres to operate 24 hours daily.

At a meeting with Health District IV officials, led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Abimbola Bowale, the council leaders were commended for their continuous support and investments in healthcare infrastructure. Dr. Bowale announced that plans are underway to provide uninterrupted medical services across all centres on the island.
Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo, Chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, vowed to collaborate with the district to raise local health centres to general hospital standards. He noted that over 350 residents have been enrolled in the free Ilera Eko programme and that financial aid has been provided to patients unable to settle hospital bills. He also revealed plans for a task force to strengthen child immunisation efforts.

Hon. Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan, Chairman of Lagos Island LG, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to health development and called on the state government to deploy more personnel for efficient service delivery.
