Air strikes kill terrorists in Borno, pound hideouts in Katsina, Kwara

The Nigerian military has intensified its onslaught against terrorism, with multiple coordinated air operations across Borno, Katsina, and Kwara States leading to the destruction of several terrorist camps and the deaths of scores of insurgents.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the leadership of the newly appointed Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, executed precision strikes on Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) targets in the Lake Chad axis of Borno State, eliminating dozens of fighters and destroying weapons storage facilities.

According to NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was intelligence-driven and part of renewed counterterrorism efforts.

> “Air assets conducted precision strikes southeast of Shuwaram before shifting to Mallam Fatori, where ISWAP elements were observed mobilising with motorcycles and boats along the Lake Chad Basin,” Ejodame said.

He added that the attacks obliterated insurgent strongholds, logistics depots, and weapons caches, severely weakening ISWAP’s operational capabilities.

Simultaneously, NAF fighter jets carried out devastating air interdictions on terrorist camps in Garin Dandi and Chigogo, Kwara State, leaving the criminals with heavy losses. In Katsina, Operation FANSAN YAMMA air assets struck Zango Hill in Kankara Local Government Area — a known base of a terrorist leader and his fighters — killing several and destroying their logistics hubs.

The Air Force also conducted reconnaissance missions across Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna States, targeting hideouts along the Birnin Gwari–Funtua corridor, where aircrews neutralised terrorists attempting to flee near Wam Hill.

Ejodame noted that these operations align with Air Marshal Aneke’s directive to “fly smarter and strike harder,” reaffirming NAF’s commitment to intelligence-led precision strikes to safeguard Nigerians.

“Each mission reflects NAF’s resolve to employ smarter, intelligence-driven airpower to project purposeful lethality against insurgents while protecting citizens and enhancing national security,” he added.
