The Sokoto State Government has confirmed a joint airstrike carried out by the Nigerian military in collaboration with the United States against terrorist enclaves in Tangaza Local Government Area, stressing that no civilian casualties were recorded.

The state government said the operation was part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating within Sokoto State and along Nigeria’s northwestern borders. It added that post-strike assessments are still ongoing.
According to the government, the full impact of the airstrike could not be immediately determined as reports from joint operations authorities are still being awaited.

It also addressed public concerns over the discovery of suspicious objects near Jabo town in Tambuwal Local Government Area, noting that investigations are ongoing and conclusions will only be reached after detailed analysis by relevant Nigeria–US military authorities.

The government emphasised that despite the ongoing investigations and assessments in Tangaza and Jabo communities, no civilian casualties were recorded in either location.
Sokoto State welcomed collaboration between Nigeria and international partners aimed at curbing terrorism and cross-border crimes, and reiterated its commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of necessary equipment to enhance safety across the state.
Residents were urged to continue cooperating with security agencies and to remain calm as investigations and security operations continue.
