A leading organiser of the Mata International Equestrian Festival has expressed interest in strengthening economic and cultural cooperation between Nigeria and Morocco through future joint development initiatives.

Nabil Baraka, who heads the festival, said discussions are underway to build closer ties between both countries, with a focus on long-term collaboration that could support economic growth and youth development.

He made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the 14th edition of the Mata International Equestrian Festival held in northern Morocco, an event that brings together riders, cultural groups, and international visitors to celebrate equestrian heritage.
Baraka emphasized that future plans would include promoting Nigerian-Moroccan cooperation, particularly in areas that encourage shared development opportunities for the younger generation.

According to him, stronger diplomatic and economic engagement between both countries would contribute to increased growth and mutual benefit.
This year’s festival officially kicked off with the presentation of equestrian teams and the start of traditional horse-riding competitions, which remain a central feature of Morocco’s cultural identity and heritage celebration.
The event continues to attract participants and spectators from different regions, highlighting both cultural preservation and international exchange.
