DAVIDO AND VERYDARKMAN ONLINE WAR TAKES ANOTHER TURN AS SINGER TAKES DRASTIC STEP

The ongoing disagreement between Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has taken another turn after both personalities reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The development, which emerged on Saturday, October 31, 2026, suggests a further breakdown in the relationship between the singer and the outspoken activist, who were previously known to be close.

Checks on their respective Instagram accounts reportedly showed that Davido had removed VeryDarkMan from his following list, while the activist had also stopped following the singer.

The latest development comes amid renewed discussions surrounding their disagreement, particularly following claims by Kokopee, a close associate of VeryDarkMan, that he had attempted to reconcile the two former friends.

In a viral video, Kokopee explained that he had tried to intervene privately after the disagreement between Davido and VDM escalated. He claimed that VeryDarkMan felt betrayed by the singer and that he had communicated with both parties in an attempt to resolve their differences.

Kokopee also alleged that Davido personally contacted him regarding the situation, presenting what he described as evidence of their private conversation.

However, Davido appeared to challenge the account on Friday, October 30, by responding with a single cap emoji on social media, a popular internet expression used to suggest that something is untrue or exaggerated.

The singer’s reaction generated further discussions among social media users, with fans expressing different opinions about the claims and the disagreement between the personalities.

The situation was further heightened after Davido congratulated rapper Zlatan Ibile, his former signee Peruzzi and singer Shoday on the success of their collaborative song, ‘Inferno’.

The song had attracted attention after listeners interpreted a particular lyric in Zlatan’s verse as a possible reference to VeryDarkMan, although the rapper had not explicitly confirmed that it was directed at the activist.

VeryDarkMan subsequently criticised the song and its reception, adding another dimension to the ongoing online exchange.

Meanwhile, the mutual unfollowing has generated reactions from supporters of both personalities, with some welcoming the development while others expressed hope that the former friends would eventually settle their differences.
