Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has officially entered the race for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election after purchasing the ₦50 million nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A video shared on Wednesday by Imran Mohammed, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, showed Tuggar completing the registration process, signing documents, and receiving his nomination form from party officials.
Tuggar had earlier confirmed his intention to contest, describing his ambition as a collective project aimed at improving governance and development in Bauchi State rather than a personal or divisive political pursuit.

“This is not just my ambition; it is a collective mission to move Bauchi State forward,” he said during a visit to the APC state secretariat.
He explained that his entry into the race is expected to strengthen internal democracy within the party and encourage healthy competition among aspirants ahead of the primaries.
Tuggar, who resigned from his ministerial position in March 2026 in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive that political appointees seeking elective office must step down, also reaffirmed his commitment to party discipline and due process.
With his formal declaration, the former minister now joins the growing list of APC contenders eyeing the Bauchi governorship seat as political activities gradually build momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
