President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of retired Major General Adeyinka A. Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security.
The appointment was announced in a circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and issued by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana.
According to the statement, the appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening internal security coordination, improving intelligence-driven operations, and deepening collaboration among security agencies in tackling emerging threats across the country.
The Presidency described Fadewa as a highly decorated retired military officer with more than three decades of experience in military intelligence, counter-terrorism operations, national security strategy, and international security diplomacy.
During his service career, Fadewa served as Principal General Staff Officer to the National Security Adviser at the Office of the National Security Adviser between 2015 and 2021.

He was credited with playing a major role in developing Nigeria’s modern intelligence coordination system, including leading the establishment of the Intelligence Fusion Centre at ONSA.
The platform brought together key security and intelligence agencies such as the Defence Intelligence Agency, National Intelligence Agency, Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Armed Forces to improve intelligence sharing and national threat response.
After retiring from active military service, Fadewa became a Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, where he focused on national security reforms, policing, and civil-security cooperation.

He is also the author of a monograph titled Policing and National Security in Nigeria, which outlines strategies for improving collaboration between security agencies and civilians.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Fadewa’s experience and expertise would strengthen the government’s efforts to achieve a safer and more secure Nigeria through better intelligence coordination and proactive security management.
The President also urged him to use his experience and strategic insight to support the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and advance national security objectives.
