Reports indicate that the incident occurred at the venue of the exercise after a disagreement broke out over delays in the commencement of the election process.

Eyewitness accounts said the primary, initially scheduled for Saturday morning, was delayed due to the absence of returning officers, which led to frustration among some party members who began protesting.

As tensions rose, government officials who arrived to observe the exercise reportedly left the venue due to the continued delay, while some youths blocked the road to prevent their departure, insisting that electoral officers must arrive before they would disperse.

Security personnel were later deployed to control the situation after stones were allegedly thrown by aggrieved youths, and shots were fired in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

It was during the incident that Abdullahi was reportedly struck and killed, sparking panic and confusion at the scene.

Residents have since condemned the incident and are calling for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and justice.
