The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has begun its governorship primary election across all wards in the state.
The exercise, which is taking place in 319 wards on Friday, is being conducted using the Option A4 voting system, a transparent queue-based method used to ensure openness in the electoral process.
Party officials confirmed that members of the National Election Committee (NEC) are on the ground to supervise and monitor the conduct of the primaries across various locations.
Ahead of the exercise, the governorship aspirants held a consensus meeting where two of the seven candidates reportedly stepped down in support of Gabriel Pidomson, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and ex-Secretary to the State Government.
One of the aspirants who withdrew from the race is Henry Ugboma.
Following the development, the remaining candidates still in the contest include Sokonte Davies, Farah Dagogo, Leloonu Nwibubasa, and Allen Hart.
The party is expected to conclude the ward-level voting process and announce its governorship flagbearer after collation of results from across the state.
