Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has shared why he chooses to stay in hotels instead of maintaining luxury properties overseas, revealing that he sold his houses in the United States and United Kingdom to stay more focused on building businesses in Nigeria.

He explained that managing expensive foreign homes can become a distraction, adding unnecessary responsibilities that may take attention away from long-term business goals. According to him, simplifying his lifestyle has helped him concentrate more on his industrial ventures.
Dangote noted that before fully committing to his industrial journey, he owned multiple properties abroad, including two houses in the U.S. and another in the U.K., but later decided to sell them to remain based in Nigeria.

He added that holiday homes often come with obligations that can interrupt focus and productivity, saying he prefers the simplicity of staying in hotels where he only pays for his stay without ongoing maintenance concerns.
The business mogul also emphasized the importance of discipline and vision in achieving success, explaining that his companies operate with long-term targets, including strategic plans extending toward 2030.

He further highlighted that many of his investments are driven by a commitment to local production, aimed at reducing dependence on imports through a process he described as backward integration.
According to him, the goal is to ensure that essential goods needed in daily life are produced locally, strengthening self-sufficiency and supporting national development.
