Former state chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), under the G-37 group led by Hon. Cletus Obun, have reaffirmed their commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made during a solidarity visit to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where members of the G-37 met with the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Speaking on behalf of the group, Obun said the visit was aimed at expressing unwavering support for the APC leadership while congratulating the party’s newly elected national officers. He described the gathering as a reflection of the group’s dedication to the growth and stability of the ruling party.
He emphasized the need to recognize and preserve the contributions of the party’s founding members, urging the leadership to embrace inclusiveness and ensure that all stakeholders are carried along as the APC prepares for future elections.

Obun also expressed confidence in the ability of the new national officers to lead the party successfully, calling for greater consultation with state party structures and praying for wisdom and strength as they carry out their responsibilities.
In his response, APC Deputy National Chairman Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye appreciated the former ACN chairmen for their show of solidarity, describing their visit as a reminder of the commitment and sacrifices that led to the formation of the APC.

He urged party members to remain united despite the emergence of opposition coalitions, stressing that the ideals on which the APC was founded should continue to guide its activities.
Nwoye noted that the party was formed through the merger of several legacy political parties, including the ACN, ANPP and CPC, adding that acknowledging those political backgrounds should reinforce the party’s unity rather than create divisions.
He also called on members to strengthen grassroots mobilization in support of President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, expressing confidence that the administration’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects would produce lasting benefits for Nigerians.
Highlighting ongoing road projects across the country, Nwoye said they demonstrate the government’s commitment to national development and urged party faithful not to lose hope because of personal political setbacks.
The meeting concluded with both the G-37 and the APC leadership reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the party’s structures, promoting unity and preparing for future electoral contests.
