Minister of Works, David Umahi, has stated that the Federal Government is leveraging road construction and rehabilitation projects as part of a broader strategy to improve security across Nigeria.

Speaking during the official commencement of road projects at Muna City Gate along the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru highway, Umahi said President Bola Tinubu’s administration considers strategic road infrastructure essential for strengthening military operations and restoring stability, particularly in the North-East.
According to the minister, the ongoing highway projects are designed to reconnect communities affected by insecurity, stimulate economic activities, and improve access to border regions.

He explained that the improved road network would also enhance the movement of security personnel and equipment, making it easier for the military to carry out operations against insurgents and other criminal elements.

Umahi noted that the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru road serves as an important corridor linking Nigeria with neighbouring Chad and Cameroon, adding that the completed project would promote cross-border trade while supporting national security objectives.
He maintained that the Tinubu administration views infrastructure development as a key component of its efforts to combat insecurity and drive economic growth in affected regions.
